Meet Our Staff

Robert M. Kuschel, MS, LPC
Counseling Services Coordinator

Robbie Kuschel"Robbie" joined Regent University in February of 2012. With over 20 years of experience in counseling, he has worked with a very large number of individuals, groups, and families facing a plethora of mental health issues. His work experience has been quite varied and includes school based drug and drop-out prevention, delinquency counseling (residential and community based), residential drug treatment, private practice, adoption, and church based counseling. He has also served as a youth pastor and high school Bible teacher. Robbie earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology at Palm Beach Atlantic University in South Florida and has earned professional licensure in Florida (LMHC) and Virginia (LPC). A former college athlete, Robbie is admittedly a sports fanatic and also enjoys fishing and computer gaming. Robbie and his wife, Shannon, have been married over 20 years and have two teenage sons.


Melissa Horowitz, BA
Graduate Counseling Intern

Melissa HorowitzMelissa Horowitz started the counseling program at Regent in fall 2012. Her experience includes, but is not limited to, working with special needs children, pregnant women in crisis, and new students in higher education. She completed her practicum at Sentara Careplex where she counseled patients and their families in the emergency room and oncology department. She has also traveled overseas for missions and community outreach and hosted small groups in her home. Her interests include traveling, reading, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. She has a passion for working with young adults and looks forward to her time in the counseling department at Regent.


Mark Mace, BA
Graduate Counseling Intern

Mark MaceMark started his graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Regent University in 2012. His counseling experience includes school based counseling and international trauma counseling with children, adults, elderly and families. Mark graduated with his certificate in Cross-Cultural Ministry from Faith School of Theology in Maine. He received his bachelor's degree from Southwestern Assembly of God University. He served as an Associate Pastor at an international church in Baltimore, Maryland. Mark's interests include family, trauma, and addiction counseling and is Green Cross certified as a Traumatologist. He enjoys working with people and believes that being a counselor is a calling from God. Mark loves to exercise, watch movies, and read books. He and his wife Rachel have been married for 8 years.
