Commencement 2008 Important Information

Take note of the following steps to prepare for participation in commencement:

  1. Fulfill your degree/certificate requirements.
    • Check to see if your Approved Degree Program (ADP) is complete.
    • If you have any questions, please contact your advisor.
  2. Pay the appropriate graduation fee in the Business Office or online via Genisys. This fee is assessed only one time per degree/certificate earned. The fee applies regardless of when all graduation requirements are completed.
    • $70 - Law, Ed.S. and all Doctorate
    • $60 - All Other Degrees
  3. Submit your Graduation Application opens in new browser window or Certificate Application opens in new browser window to the Registrar's Office. Deadline dates to submit graduation applications are as follows:

    September 15 for fall graduation
    December 15 for spring and summer graduation

    Certificate applications are accepted year round. Students who are not approved to graduate for either the degree or certificate in the semester stated on the application must file another application in a subsequent semester.
  4. Order regalia. Regalia is ordered and purchased online from Oak Hall Industries opens in new browser window. The deadline to order is April 14, 2008. Please refer to Commencement 2008 FAQs for important information you need to know about commencement.   5. RSVP for participation in commencement. All students who have submitted a graduation application must complete an RSVP form and send it in to the Registrar's Office. This RSVP slip can also be accessed online opens in new browser window. The deadline to RSVP is April 14, 2008. If you do not notify the Registrar's Office that you will be attending, we cannot guarantee that you will be seated with your classmates.

    Also, you must RSVP for your commissioning service separately. Please contact your school to RSVP for your commissioning service.
  6. Pick up your regalia. Regalia must be picked up on campus on the designated dates and times. (Regalia cannot be mailed out on an individual basis.)
    Pick-up is located at the Student Center, 1st Floor, on the following dates and times:

    Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    Thursday, May 8, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    Friday, May 9, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    Saturday, May 10, 2008, from 7:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

    Students taking on-site classes at the Washington, D.C., location may pick up regalia at the Carlyle Crescent Center on the following dates and times:

    Tuesday, May 6, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
    Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
    Thursday, May 8, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  7. Attend commencement. Commencement 2008 will be held on the Regent University campus in Virginia Beach on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The processional begins promptly at 9:30 a.m., so make sure you arrive to line up no later than 8:45 a.m. (fully dressed in your regalia, including hood and cap.) Graduate line-up takes place on the sidewalk behind the Administration Building beginning at 8:15 a.m. Staff persons and faculty marshals will be available to assist you. Graduates may not carry handbags or other personal items, banners, placards, etc. A small camera is permissible.

    Immediately after commencement, there will be an outside reception for graduates and guests.
