On Thursday, August 6th Regent University Faculty and Staff turned out in great numbers for La Fiesta Latina Quarterly Faculty/Staff Meeting held in the Library Atrium. Congratulations to Francisco Afanador, Marjorie "Jo" Joynes and Kathy Ruley who won our contest for the best Latino/Latina costumes and to many others who participated, adding much to the occasion.

As lunch began, employees enjoyed fellowship over salsa made by Ruby Moreno and dip provided by Peggy Bivins. Dessert and beverages were provided by Human Resources. The dessert table was filled with a colorful piñata and bowls of fruit, cookies, and other treats served with ice cream. Thanks to Jackie Murray and Laurie Ann Finn for a great job transforming the Library Atrium for the event as well as organizing the delicious dessert.

The University’s vice president gave updates from their respective areas. At the conclusion of the vice presidents’ presentations, Service Awards for April – June 2009 were presented to employees. Supervisor Training Certificates were presented to Wanda K. Burch, Registrar; Melissa Cazorla, School of Undergraduate Studies; Cheryl Crossett, School of Undergraduate Studies; Christie Davis, School of Divinity; Marc Santom, School of Divinity; Eileen Wilshire, School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

Brooke Chalfant, Traffic/Assistant Copywriter in Marketing, was honored as July's Employee of the Month with a skit representing her role. Please nominate other Reflections of Excellence in the Regent community at the Employee Awards site on the Human Resources web page.

The program culminated with special entertainment by Ruby Moreno and Company, accompanied by Sean Kirnan on the piano. The group sang two songs in Spanish closing the program on a delightful note. Thanks to all who participated in song.
