2013-2014 Refund & Add/Drop Period Changes

Recently, Regent University approved the adjustment of its refund policy and add/drop periods. It is imperative that you read the following information thoroughly. Failure to do so may cause unexpected issues with your future financial aid and enrollment.

What Are the New Policy Changes?

Regent University updated both the processing time for federal financial aid refunds and the Add/Drop periods for each semester. These changes will take effect beginning Fall 2013.  Regent University will process all refunds after the conclusion of the 100% Add/Drop period. Furthermore, the university adjusted the length of time in which a student has to add and drop courses without penalty. All continuing students who receive federal financial aid and have an expected financial aid refund are subject to this change. If you are expected to graduate prior to Fall 2013 and will not continue into another program at Regent University, you may disregard this information.

How Will This Affect Me?

First and foremost, expected financial aid refunds will not be available until after the conclusion of the first week of classes each semester; therefore, students must arrange to cover any “non-educational expenses” (i.e., rent for non-Regent housing, food, transportation, et al) prior to refund processing. It is vital for students expecting refunds to borrow conservatively and plan accordingly.

Second, the adjusted add/drop period gives students one week to make enrollment adjustments for a semester without penalty (100% Refund Period). Students will have an additional one week wherein they may make enrollment changes with a partial penalty (50% Refund Period). The total Add/Drop period will be two weeks in length beginning Fall 2013.

When Will I Get My Refund

If credit balances are available, students will receive their refund the Thursday following the conclusion of the 100% Add/Drop period, approximately 10 days after the start of classes. This timeline is an estimation and assumes that students have enrolled in Direct Deposit via Genisys®. If not, refunds will be mailed as a check. The check can take 7 to 10 business days to arrive. While the following is subject to change and may vary, expected 2013-2014 refund dates are as follows:

Fall 2013 – August 29th, 2013 (classes begin August 19th)

Spring 2014 – January 16th, 2014 (classes begin January 6th)

Summer 2014 – May 15th, 2014 (classes begin May 5th)
