Although the teaching ePortfolio may seem like "just another variation on the resume or curriculum vitae", it does have benefits which outshine these more static documents. The difference rests in the fundamental nature of the teaching ePortfolio. While the purpose of a resume is to showcase an individual's accomplishments and experience, a teaching ePortfolio serves to continually improve instruction by quantifying, archiving, and assessing teaching effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
Teaching ePortfolios:
1) Stimulate growth by offering a broader perspective that illuminates themes, trends, and beliefs about teaching that were not previously distinguishable.
2) Assess teaching effectiveness by empirically testing and evaluating instructional methods based on the instructors previous experiences, successes, and failures during each cycle of revision.
3) Identify instructor strengths and weaknesses, propelling an effective instructor to become even more accomplished.
4) Archive the best aspects of an individuals instruction.
5) Support promotion and tenure decisions by demonstrating teaching excellence with a document that encompasses the essence of an instructors teaching.

The Best & Brightest Reasons to Register Early with Kelley Davis
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
1) Registering via the Regent Training system (or RTS) reserves your place in class, but it does not automatically make online course materials available to you. Allow some time for the registration to go through to prevent delay.
2) The RTS automatically closes registration as the calendar progresses, so if the course started yesterday, the course won't be available in the RTS today.
3) Asynchronous courses have deadlines too! If you wait too long, you might find yourself behind in completing the required assignments!
4) If not enough people register in advance, the course may not be offered at all due to low enrollment. So, get started on the right foot. Register on or well before the starting date of a course. |
