There are many key elements to the development of a great course--one of which is the Course Objective. But did you know there are three essential characteristics to include in a useful course objective?
The first characteristic of a useful course objective is Performance--that is, to state what a learner is expected to be able to do and/or produce to be considered competent.
The second characteristic is the Conditions--what are the important conditions under which the performance is to occur?
The final characteristic of a useful course objective is Criterion--what is the criteria of acceptable performance? In other words, the objective should state how well someone would have to perform to be considered competent. The three essential characteristics of a useful course objective... Now you know!

The Quality Matters Rubric is what sets Regent apart. It is a list of standards to follow to create a high quality, online course. Faculty across more than 17 institutions collaborated to create this tool.
Here are some reasons why the Quality Matters Rubric could be useful to you:
1) It incorporates 8 standards that take an online course to a new level of quality
2) It assists in identifying the differences between poorly and well-designed courses
3) It can help you improve your own course development capabilities
Try the rubric out and you could earn the CTL Quality Assurance seal for your courses!
