Christian Multicultural Education

Up to now, the biggest multicultural challenge some of us encounter on a day-to-day basis is whether to go to a Chinese or Italian restaurant for dinner.
However, the situation is changing. Regent University’s Strategic Plan envisions a more globally diverse University community and our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) addresses the need to produce globally competent students.
Consequently, the topic of multicultural education and what it represents for a Christian university is a highly relevant discussion topic.
The aim of multicultural education is to create equal educational opportunities for students from diverse racial, ethnic, social-class, and cultural groups and to assist all students to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to function effectively in pluralistic societies. I know of no one who would criticize this aim. However, controversy often develops based on how multicultural education is implemented. Continued >
