Develop - Templates
Many schools use a standard Blackboard course template to allow students to find materials in any course more easily. Some professors like to develop their content in Word and insert it into the course template when finished. Other professors would rather build the content directly in Blackboard.
Please remember that CTL teaches a Blackboard Certification program that will help you immensely with your proficiency in Blackboard. In addition, you can find many tutorials on Bb within the Bb learning objects database.
As a rule, the minimum amount of time needed to develop a course is 96 to 112 hours. Once the course is developed, it will be distributed to the various course sections offered by the registrar and facilitated by numerous faculty members. Therefore, please leave the faculty information section of the template empty. The instructor identified for each section will fill in the information, set up the announcements and arrange groups on the discussion board.
The developer is, however, responsible for writing the discussion board questions and for setting up the gradebook to correspond to the assessments in the course. Remember that as the developer of the course, you must develop and upload course content into a template for the online course and a template for the on campus courses.
Below is the template used in all Regent University School of Undergraduate Studies courses:
