CPC0210 - Social Media and the Fundamentals of Digital Marketing

Social Media empowers consumers, forms their perceptions and purchasing decisions. It is a fast and efficient way to inform clients or members. Your company or church/ministry needs to be proactively utilizing the most common Social Media applications, in order to stay competitive and relevant in a changing market and ministry place. This part of the workshop will cover marketing strategies utilizing Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, FourSquare and Pinterest. For businesses the goal will be to learn how to increase ROI, turning fans and followers into customers, how to generate leads and improve brand reputation and loyalty. For ministries the goal will be how to utilize Social Media in order to communicate with members and especially youth groups.

CPC0220 - Foundations & Best Practices for Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility and ranking of a website or a web page in search engines' "natural," or un-paid search results, sometimes also called “organic” listing. The SEO process is highly important for companies and churches with a web presence, because of competitor’s websites that are also aiming to capture the same customer/seeker base. Participants will learn the most effective SEO techniques currently used today on top ranking websites. A professional set of proven best practices will be explained that immediately can be applied to existing sites and improve their ranking and visibility across Search Engines.

CPC0230 - Graphic Design and the Production of the Digital Content

Most ministries and businesses with some form of web presence have the need to update and publish digital media content. Such content ranges from photographs, to designed images and also videos. Attendees will receive an overview of Photoshop’s most common and powerful tools in order to produce professional images that can be posted on Blogs, Websites, Mobile Applications and Social Media Applications. In addition, video editing features in YouTube will be explained and how to embed video content across different digital platforms.

CPC0240 - Maintaining and Updating Websites

Websites and Social Media sites need to be maintained and updated with new content in order to remain attractive to visitors. Websites are designed with a variety of editing tools ranging from software like Dreamweaver to Content Management Systems such as WordPress. This section of the seminar will cover the most commonly used updating methods and tools and in order for participants to become familiar with these technologies. This session has two outcomes: 1) Attendees will learn how to create a web presence “from scratch”, including how to select a domain name and webhosting. 2) It will enable them to access their own existing sites and make professional changes and updates.

Markus Pfeiffer, D.Min.
Dr. Markus Pfeiffer

Dr. Markus Pfeiffer teaches both journalism and digital media communication at Regent University. He specializes in Internet technologies, and their integration into the field of journalism and strategic communication. Dr. Pfeiffer teaches basic and advanced web development courses, and online marketing classes. He has more than 12 years of professional and academic experience and his research area is Digital Media. Dr. Pfeiffer is also the owner and president of a successful Internet communication and web development company, which serves national and international clients. This allows him to introduce industry leading practices into his teaching and research areas.

Dr. Pfeiffer joined Regent in 1998 as the university's first webmaster. In 2003, he became the director of new media technologies for the School of Communication & the Arts and two years later a full-time faculty member. His research includes how post-modernism, Web 2.0 technologies and social media applications influence popular culture, education and also challenge ministries and churches. He is a popular seminar speaker on these topics. At Regent, he teaches courses on web development, digital media communication, photography and online marketing.
