Course Description:
This course is designed with one purpose in mind: to assist you in proactively acquiring the knowledge and understanding to readily apply the tools and techniques of sound project management best practices. As business management increases in complexity and as budgets get tighter, the discipline of project management becomes increasingly instrumental to delivering successful projects within budgets, on time, and with the expected results or outcomes. The practical and tested 32 Project Management Process(TM) presented in the workshop consists of three segments (or ‘Squares’) designed to address the Project Management Life Cycle and highlight the key principles and tools of sound project management practices.
Expect to Learn: By the end of the program students will:
:: Review and discuss the project’s “Triple Constraints”
:: Write a sound project statement and objectives
:: Understand the “Decomposition” process
:: Develop a “Work Breakdown Structure” (WBS)
:: Explore the brainstorming ‘best practice’ of mind-mapping in developing a WBS
:: Develop a “Needs/Requirements Matrix”
:: Identify the “Critical Path” and learn to leverage its relevance
:: Develop a “Gantt” Chart
:: Negotiate ownership of each task
:: Discuss Risk Management
:: Discuss Baseline Management
:: Identify the criteria to measure performance
:: Explore ‘Earned Value Management’ as a performance reporting standard
:: Minimize the unexpected - Maximize the opportunities
:: Discuss Scope Creep and Change Control Systems
:: Close a project appropriately
:: Learn "Best Practices" to lead meetings
