In Ministering to the Spirit, Restoring the Soul, Dr. Nagib discusses the importance of the tripartite nature of man and how our tripartite nature relates with the triune God. She will present the importance of the much neglected spirit in the healing work and present a practical inner healing tool to identify the blocks that keep individuals from fully interacting with the Godhead (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). This presentation will assist the clinician’s work to restore the individual’s intimacy with God utilizing the core Christian value of forgiveness. This tool, with the guidance of the clinician and through the power of the Holy Spirit, identifies and breaks off the lies created by familial wounds that keep individuals stuck and unable to receive healing for these wounds from God. It releases the truth of their identity, who God is, and the freedom and love that He has for each individual.
This course is designed to help participants:
- Define and explain the importance of the tripartite nature of man – body, soul, and spirit and how this relates to the triune nature of God.
- Discuss the research on providing spiritually conscious psychological care and be able to utilize this research to inform practice.
- Identify and apply to practice the importance of the human spirit in counseling. They will be able to assess and address the needs of the body, needs of the soul, and needs of the spirit in psychotherapy.
- Learn and practice “The Father Ladder.” This is a practical tool used to identify unhealthy attachment styles and to address the cognitive distortions that arise from them. It works to improve the client’s
ability to connect with God and build on their spirituality.
- Discuss forgiveness research and apply principles of forgiveness to counseling. Identify and apply positive psychology research on hope to improve overall psychological and spiritual functioning.
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Utilize their understanding of the connection between spirituality and psychological issues to better serve their clients
- Perform spiritual assessments along with intervention techniques to positively affect treatment outcomes
- Promote the practice of spiritually conscious psychological care
