Workshop Description:

Too many kids are angry, apathetic or restless. As a result, too many teachers are exhausted and frustrated. This course will equip teachers to create an exciting classroom environment for every child. It will introduce a systematic method that transforms the classroom into an orderly haven, while fostering a dynamic learning environment where disruptive or inappropriate behavior and bullying will be reduced and eliminated.

The course is presented in two distinct parts. In the first part, Preventing Discipline Problems from Erupting, attendees will learn how to proactively discourage classroom chaos. After laying a foundation of timeless principles, weary teachers will receive a pound of practical prevention. In the second part, Holding Boundaries and Healing Conflict, attendees will learn to enforce boundaries, while encouraging productive behavior. They will also learn to handle disruptive and inappropriate behavior. The course will show how to discern a student's motive, select the appropriate consequence, and administer it constructively. Special attention will be given to Preventing Bullying.

Regent Difference:

In an environment of varying expectations of good behavior, a delicate balance is needed when addressing discipline in a classroom setting. This course is designed specifically for educational providers who have the opportunity to alter bullying behavior and prevent other discipline problems in young people. Regent’s offering of this course is unique because it also addresses the cultivation of character from a Christian perspective.
