Black Heritage Month

Regent University's observation of Black Heritage Month during February features a number of activities that celebrate student talents and also looks toward the future. Events include an Urban Renewal Symposium on Feb. 26 and a Gospel Fest that evening. Please check our Black Heritage Month event webpage for more information.


University Library Kicks Off “The Big Read”

On January 9, 2009, the university kicked off the common read of Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich with a well- attended program featuring comments from Library Dean Sara Baron and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carlos Campo, a dramatic reading from the book, and authentic Russian food and drink.  Programming is set to continue throughout the month of January and conclude on February 10.  All events are free and open to the public.

Big Read Grand Finale – Give War and Peace a Chance: How Tolstoy Can Change Your Life featuring Tolstoy scholar Dr. Andrew Kaufman
Tuesday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m., Moot Courtroom
The lecture is followed by a reception and presentation of awards.

Essay and Video Contests – Top prize is $150.00. Entries must be received by January 30.

Please encourage students to come to the events and enter the contests! Who can’t use an extra $150? Everyone is encouraged to read the book, and free copies are available from the University Library while supplies last. However, reading the book is not a requirement for attending the events. All (spouses, friends, children) are invited to attend the programs.
