It is possible that you or someone you know has reaped the benefits of someone else's contribution to the United Way because all donations help make our communities better. Who benefits from United Way contributions?

It is a myth that only the poor benefit from United Way contributions. You have probably been a recipient of their programs and services without even knowing it. United Way provides funding for a wide variety of agencies and organizations, such as the YMCA, YWCA, the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross. The services these agencies and organizations provide are for everyone's benefit, not just for those who are underprivileged or underserved. There may even be programs or services you may be interested in using, once you know they exist, such as before and after school care.

Does my contribution really count?

At least 86 cents of every dollar you contribute is applied toward vital health and human services in our community. United Way of South Hampton Roads is the mother of 70 certified agencies that provide over 160 health and human services programs to local residents. United Way needs financial support in order to provide programs and services to the families of South Hampton Roads.

As an institution that depends on donor dollars, Regent University understands that programs and services will not continue without funding.
