Regent Welcomes Pre-law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International
December 15, 2008
The Regent University Pre-law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, was officially installed at a special ceremony on December 9, 2008. The organization caters to undergraduate students interested in pursuing law as a career. After attaining approval from the International Fraternity as well as the University, Regent's Pre-law Chapter is proud to have initiated its first 25 members.
Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law is part of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, the world’s largest international legal organization (www.pad.org). This professional law fraternity seeks to advance integrity, compassion and courage through service to the student, the school, the profession, and the community. The pre-law program resulted from extensive research, which demonstrated that no national organization was effectively addressing the needs of pre-law students. Hence, the purpose of Phi Alpha Delta’s pre-law program is to assist members in determining whether law school is for them, to educate members about a career in law, to assist members in preparing for and applying to law school, and to provide service to organizations in the local community that are in need.
As a newly organized group at Regent, the Pre-law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta has already hosted a canned food drive and sent a few of its members to the annual Pre-law conference in Washington D.C. The chapter plans to host events such as mock trials, discussion panels, and bring in speakers to educate potential law students on LSAT test preparation as well as other requirements for law school admissions.
Phi Alpha Delta remains the only law fraternity and the only national legal organization of any kind with an international pre-law program committed to meeting the needs of undergraduate students interested in law. The Regent University Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta is honored to be one of over 280 Pre-Law chapters, with over 25 enthusiastic chartering members.
