Your Chance to Compete for Full Tuition Scholarships

You've studied hard and excelled in high school. Now's the time to plan your future. Regent University School of Undergraduate Studies is proud to invite you to apply for a spot at our sixth annual Scholars Weekend competition, January 27-28, 2011 or February 17-18, 2011 (for Students who intend to major in Animation, Theatre or Cinema Television).

If you are accepted, you will have an opportunity to compete for one of several available full-ride scholarships* as well as check out our academic programs, campus and faculty by being our guest here on-campus for an entire weekend. You and your parent or guardian will enjoy staying at the well-renowned hotel on campus, The Founders Inn and Spa.

In order to participate in Scholars Weekend, you must be considered a high school senior as of September 1, 2010 and have applied for admission for Fall 2011 by December 3, 2010. The scholarship competition includes evaluating your ACT or SAT score, official high school transcripts, GPA, written essay and an interview with a panel of our distinguished faculty.

For students interested in the Communication and Arts majors, you will also participate in an audition or portfolio review and an interview specifically with faculty and staff from the School of Communication and the Arts.

Several full-tuition scholarships* and partial scholarships will be awarded during each weekend.

*Scholarships cover full tuition costs for a maximum of 4 years. Books, fees, room and board are not covered.

How do I apply?

First, you must apply for admissions to Regent Universityfor Fall 2011. We must have your application, official SAT/ACT scores and official high school transcripts in our office by December 3, 2010. The latest SAT test due date we can accept is the November 6, 2010 test date.

You must also apply separately for Scholar's Weekend. Please click on the link below and follow the step-by-step instructions in order to apply for Scholar's Weekend. You do not need to submit your SAT/ACT scores or transcripts a second time; we will utilize the scores and transcripts provided with your application for admission.

How do I know which weekend to attend?

Students who intend to major in Animation, Cinema Television or Theatre must participate in an audition or portfolio review along with their interview with faculty and staff. To facilitate this process we are hosting two different Scholars Weekend events.

If you plan to major in any of the three majors listed above, you MUST register for the February 17-18, 2011 Scholars Weekend. Students interested in any other major MUST attend the January 27-28, 2011 weekend.

We cannot accommodate auditions or portfolio reviews during the January competition dates. Should you be undecided about your major and be considering any of the three majors in the School of Communication and Arts, it is best for you to apply to attend the February 17-18 event.

If I am selected to attend the weekend event. What can I expect?

Students will be expected to visit the Virginia Beach campus Thursday through Saturday, either January 27-28, 2011 or February 17-18, 2011, where you will meet with faculty and staff, tour our campus, interact with other students, and interview in front of a panel of faculty members for an opportunity to win a scholarship. The weekend will conclude with an elegant banquet in our beautiful Library Atrium.

Professional Dress
Students will be expected to wear business casual during the day, and business formal for the evening banquet.

Missing Class
Students will be expected to miss class Friday at their high school.

Accommodations
Hotel rooms at the Founders Inn have been reserved for all Scholars Weekend participants and their parent/guardian. Regent will provide complimentary continental breakfast, lunch, and one banquet dinner to ALL scholarship attendees and their parent/guardian.

What are the criteria for being selected to attend the weekend?

All seniors must submit an application no later than December 3, 2010. The application will ask for your GPA, SAT or ACT scores along with a written essay.

What if I'm a home schooled student?

Students who are home schooled will be evaluated on the same criteria as other students attending public or private high schools. Home schooled students must also submit a high school transcript demonstrating courses taken and grade point calculations based on a 4.0 scale.

What do I bring?

Student will be expected to bring a good attitude, preparedness and an expectation to have a great weekend!
