Purpose of RUDA

We believe that Christians are admonished in Scripture to be lovers of wisdom who earnestly seek after truth (Proverbs 2:1-6). Furthermore, we believe that all Christians are admonished in the Scriptures to comprehensively defend and articulate their beliefs (1 Peter 3:15, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5) in order to be discerning in our quest for knowledge and truth, avoiding the captivity of vain and deceptive philosophies (Colossians 2:8).

To discipline ourselves unto these ends, RUDA will seek to develop in its members skills of rational argumentation and respectful communication. Moreover, members will be expected to be willing to expand their knowledge in various fields of study, including philosophy, political theory, economics, history, ethics, sociology, etc.

In order to promote members' development in these subjects and skills, RUDA will compete in intercollegiate forensics competitions. Through this academic and competitive focus, RUDA will seek to encourage its members to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17) as we collectively train ourselves to utter worthy words as spokesmen of God's purposes (Jeremiah 15:19-20).

RUDA is open to Undergraduate students only.
