    Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy of Christian higher education is rooted in an understanding of the Kingdom of God. This kingdom is both a present reality and a future hope. While we wait for the consummation of the age, our call is to erect signposts of God's liberating kingdom by the way we live and the way we carry out various cultural activities including Christian higher education. My goal is to educate men and women to obediently respond to God's call for their lives.

No learning can be separated from faith, because faith is integral to all learning—either a formally religious faith or a secular faith. With this understanding, I approach my teaching of undergraduate communication from a Biblical Christian perspective. Respect for all students is an underlying principle that guides the way I interact with students, either in my online or on-campus classes. In order to teach communication from a Biblical Christian perspective, I use the framework or grid of Creation-Fall-Redemption as a foundation. This approach enables us to look at communication through the corrective lens of Scripture.

I lived and worked in academia and the corporate world in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, and the United States. I was the Interim Dean for the School of Communication and the Arts, Regent University; Previous Chair of the Department of Communication, College of Arts & Sciences, Regent University; Professor of Communication, Geneva College, Pennsylvania and Dordt College, Iowa. I was the Country Director of an international Organizational Development (OD) consulting firm; Manager of the Communication Department for a large corporation; Chair of the Communication Department of the Association of Evangelicals of Africa; and National Media Consultant for the FAO of the United Nations in Uganda.

I am currently on the International Editorial Board of Koers Journal. I have also served on the Boards of the International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education (IAPCHE) and the Center for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education in Africa (CPCHEA).
