Prospective Students History of Regent Regent University is making a mark on history by developing Christian leaders to change the world through online education.
Thirty years in the making, Regent University is located in beautiful Virginia Beach, Virginia, amidst 160 acres of prestigious wooded landscape. From its inception in 1978, Regent has grown from one founding discipline (graduate education) to developing the School of Undergraduate Studies.
In the fall of 2000, Regent University accomplished this goal. As a graduate and post-graduate institution, the University opened its doors to a new undergraduate program to fit the needs of aspiring working adults. Its founder and President, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson, developed a program that would give individuals the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree in an accelerated online format.
Regent, thus, recognizes that the world is quickly changing and acknowledges the need to bring high quality education through the global technological advances available. The university is committed to educating, influencing and advancing individuals, agencies and governments in order to impact society from a biblical perspective. Regent has now broadened its vision to include an online degree program expanding its influence throughout the world.
Regent University has gained respect throughout the Christian community as well as the entire global community. Students from all 50 states and more than 50 international countries share in academic endeavors (undergraduate & graduate) at the Virginia Beach campus in addition to the online degree program available to the world. As a Christ-centered institution, its staff and faculty are committed to applying and teaching the principles of the Christian faith emphasizing the gifts, fruits and ministries of the Holy Spirit.
Today, Regent offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programs that are devoted to educating individuals for servant leadership. Regent is dedicated to the growth and development of others and recognizes that servant leadership creates the opportunity to have a just and caring society.
Milestone after milestone, Regent continues to mark new territories in Christian education. Divine inspiration has been steadfastly guiding it since its inception in 1978. Regent went from 77 graduates in 1979 to making a worldwide impact in 2007 with a student body exceeding 5,000. Regent University remains committed to making a mark on history by developing Christian leaders that will change the world.
