8:30am – 11:00am (Graduates arrive 7:30 am)
University Chapel

The 2014 Law School Commissioning Ceremony will be held on May 2 at the University Chapel.  The Ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30am.  Graduates are to arrive at the chapel no later than 7:30am. A class photo will be taken at 7:45 am.

All graduates must purchase and wear regalia from Oak Hall opens in new browser window. Regalia orders will be accepted until Thursday, April 3, 2014. Regalia must be picked up on campus at the Student Center. You must present a picture ID to pick up your regalia. Regalia will only be released to someone other than the graduate if the graduate has submitted prior written consent to the Registrar's Office. Emailed consent must be sent from the graduate's Regent email account.

Please dress appropriately for Law Commissioning – no shorts, flip flops, etc.  You will pick up your black regalia robe, hood, cap, and tassel when you pick up your regalia from the Registrar's office. Visit the University Graduation 2014 Important Information page for pickup times/locations. Wear your robe and bring your hood with you to the ceremony.  Staff members will assist you with folding your hood appropriately.  You will process in carrying your hood and during the hooding portion of the ceremony you will present it on stage to the faculty hooder.

Caps and tassels will not be used during the Commissioning Ceremony, but you will need them for the Saturday Commencement/Graduation.

RSVP Information for Law Commissioning

Due to the space availability in the chapel, each graduate will be able to invite 6 guests.  Box-office tickets will be printed and available for pick-up beginning April 1 from the law dean's office in RH225.  Graduates must RSVP by March 15 (and may request additional tickets) through the Commissioning RSVP Form.

For your planning purposes please note:

  • A seat for each graduate will be reserved, and you do not need to hold a box office ticket for yourself.
  • Children will need a ticket unless they are small enough to sit in the lap of an adult.  If you have an infant and are bringing a car seat into the chapel, then the infant will need a ticket.
  • If you have a guest that needs handicapped seating or requires a sign language interpreter, please contact Mary Bunch, so arrangements can be made.

Handicapped Seating

Handicapped seating within the Chapel will be the front section to the right (the wing area).  If you enter through the parking lot behind the Chapel, it is on the same side of the building as the posted handicapped parking signs.  Guests may access the bathrooms by going through the door marked as the Groom’s Room.  Bathrooms are also located in the lobby of the Chapel building.

Please encourage your guests to carpool and arrive on time.  Ceremonies will be occurring throughout the day and although ours is early in the morning, arriving late may create a hardship in finding a parking spot.  Please tell your guests that they should not park in numbered or reserved areas, including the CBN parking lots.

University Saturday Commencement/Graduation

Please review the various information found at the Registrar’s website regarding the Saturday graduation: You must RSVP for the Saturday graduation/commencement via the Registrar’s website.
