Regent Law is committed to exposing our students to specialized instruction from the nation’s experts in Christian legal thought. Recent visiting and distinguished faculty include John Witte, J. Budziszewski, Rick Duncan, Phillip E. Johnson and the late Harold Berman.
John Witte is the Jonas Robitscher Professor of Law and the director of the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University. He is a prolific author and respected authority on the influence of Christian thinking on the development of Western law.
Duncan, a law professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has a strong interest in defending religious freedom and in the legal protection of pre-born children. Johnson is the Jefferson E. Peyser Professor of Law, Emeritus, of the University of California, Berkeley.
Johnson clerked for Chief Justice Roger Traynor of the California Supreme Court and Chief Justice Earl Warren of the U. S. Supreme Court. He served as a deputy district attorney and held visiting professorships at Emory University and University College, London.
Budziszewski, a professor in the departments of government and philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, is a nationally known authority on natural law.
Dr. Harold Berman, the Robert W. Woodruff Professor of Law at Emory University, was a leading authority on jurisprudence, Russian law, comparative legal history and international trade law. Before his death in the fall of 2007, Dr. Berman was arguably the nation’s leading Christian legal historian.
