God’s Direction
After graduating from Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas, my plans were to go straight into the harvest fields of South Africa to commit my life to missionary work for the Lord. Doors, however, began closing, and I realized that this was not what God had intended for me at the time. I began seeking the Lord for direction, and shortly afterwards a friend suggested that I consider taking a look at Regent University. I
remembered years before that it was a desire of my heart to actually attend Regent, yet I was not really sure in what area of study. But, I knew that I had always wanted to make a difference in both the political arena and seeing people’s lives touched and changed for the better.
God’s Calling
After attending a Regent Preview Weekend back in March 2005, I knew this was what God had wanted for me. The first thing I took note of was the quality of the faculty in the Robertson School of Government. These were highly experienced, highly qualified, seasoned individuals that I most certainly wanted to learn from. It was not something I wanted to take lightly because I really believed they were entrusted to teach me, like any other student, things I needed to learn to prepare me for the future. I believed they were, as the Robertson School of Government’s motto says, ‘Calling all visionaries with a passion to change the world’. If you believe God has a calling on your life, then you know this is possible.
Meeting Needs
My track is in Public Policy with emphasis on humanitarian initiatives. It covers a broad spectrum, but my goal is to meet the needs of those who are in desperate need physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. I want to ensure that people get the resources they need whether the resources be doctors, nurses, medicine, supplies, equipment, education, food - you name it.
Your Role
At RSG, you not only learn of current global affairs and economics, but of America’s history, what we were founded on. You are challenged with what your role is as a Christian as you go out into the field you are being prepared for. You learn to strategically think and make careful assessments of critical situations. What are the facts? What are the biblical facts? What can you offer as the solution that you believe would bring forth change? You learn the historical, the spiritual, and the practical.
God’s Provision
Originally from American Samoa, I am grateful God has made a way for me to be at Regent University. It’s a long way from home but I look forward to bringing people the help they need using what I have learned here.
