Robert M. “Bob” Dyer, Ph.D. |
Dr. Dyer joined the Robertson
School of Government on August of 2002. Prior to this appointment
he spent three years as an Assistant Professor in the Doctor
of Physical Therapy Program at Hampton University, specializing
in healthcare management and bioethics. Dr. Dyer has been part
of the Regent family since 1995 as a student in the charter
class in the newly formed Center for Leadership Studies, now
School of Leadership Studies. He completed his Ph.D. in 2001.
Dr. Dyer was born in Newark, New Jersey. After
high school he enlisted and spent four years in the United
States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. In 1976 he was
awarded a B.S. in Physical Therapy degree from Saint Louis
University. He completed his M.P.A. degree in 1982, with an
emphasis in healthcare management. During his career he worked
as a practicing physical therapist, healthcare executive,
consultant, and college educator. He also was a gubernatorial
appointee on the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapists
for three years.
PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS
Dr. Dyer is involved scholarship relating to healthcare policy,
management and bioethics. As Director for the Center for Civic
Leadership he is pursuing initiatives in the areas of public
safety, homeland security, government ethics, as well as local
and state politics. Dr. Dyer serves on the Virginia Beach City Council.
