| Background
I’m from Chattanooga, TN, and I attended Carson Newman College in TN and earned my B.A. in International Economics. I have always been interested in government and worked in politics.
Guidance
I was planning to pursue law school, but after a summer internship with my Congressman (Zach Wamp), I realized how much I enjoyed working in government affairs. I was still unsure what I would be doing in the Fall, so I secured an internship with Senator Frist and with the State Department for the Spring so that I could further my goals and nail down some experience. I had applied to RSG late and did not expect to be accepted for the Fall, thus I was surprised when I received an acceptance in late July. I prayed about the decision and decided that education would be more important than internships for me at this time. I feel that God had His hand in this decision and made it happen for me. There were many exciting options that I could have taken, but I felt drawn to Regent and felt that it was God’s plan for me at the time. Many times I pray for guidance, but never before had it seemed so clear. Everything somehow fell into place including finding a roommate at the last minute!
Wealth of Knowledge
I am currently studying Public Policy and International Politics at RSG. RSG has some amazing professors with esteemed backgrounds, ranging from Whitehouse administration to the U.N. It is important to me that these professors have been there and worked in the environment I am going into. The wealth of knowledge that they bring provides me with awareness and experience that it would take me years to discover. Through my education here at Regent, I believe that I will quickly build the necessary skills and jargon that will put me ahead of those who are stepping in with dry feet. Research skills, writing skills, and analytical thinking skills are tools Regent sharpens that will help me in any type of job I take on.
Experiences
The most significant experiences during my time here have been with former Attorney General Ashcroft. He is an amazing servant leader who demonstrates the image of humility and firmness together in leadership. The Conservative Symposium was also an excellent gathering of the minds that introduced me to several new interesting writers and thinkers. There is also the enjoyment of being with peers who understand what you are working towards and have similar goals. I believe that there are friends made here that will last a lifetime.
Future Goals
I hope that my studies here at RSG will prepare me for work with a think tank or a career with the State Department. I would like to spend a few years in D.C. and then somewhere more low-key if my career permits. Even though I am planning to be a career woman, I would like to have a family someday, and I believe that there is a balance that will allow for that.
