PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
Students learn to recognize the enormous importance of principled, knowledgeable management at the highest levels of state and local governance, where everyday lives are immediately and intimately affected. This track provides both academic preparation and practical training to equip students for successful careers in government and to enhance the careers of current professionals.

POLITICAL MANAGEMENT
Students are taught to navigate today's complex road to successful campaign politics by providing them with the skills and techniques required to develop and manage strategic campaigns within an ethical and moral framework.
Potential future positions related to this track are:

  • Campaign Fundraiser/Manager
  • Political Director
  • Consultant
  • Governor’s Office Legislative Liaison
  • Grassroots Organization Director                     
  • U.S. Congressional Staff Director
  • Political Action Committee (PAC) Director      

INTERNATIONAL POLITICS
Students comprehend the internationalization or “globalization” of peoples and nations, international trade and finance, global communication, and the clash of cultures. Students will be better equipped to formulate policies based on the rule of law, international peace and prosperity, fundamental human rights, principles of democratization and economic stewardship.
Potential future positions related to this track are:

  • Intelligence Analyst

MID-EAST POLITICS
The Mid-East Politics track will examine the political, historical, cultural, and religious issues associated with this significant area of the world. Courses center around critical elements of mid-east history in conjunction with current trends and developments. Professors will also work with students wishing to gain Arabic language proficiency to further strengthen the student’s credentials in this important policy field. Potential future positions related to this track are:

  • Policy researcher for think tanks or policy institutes
  • Foreign Service Officer
  • U.S. Embassy or Consulate Officer
  • CIA Analyst
  • FBI Agent
  • National Security Agency Analyst

TERRORISM AND HOMELAND DEFENSE
Students are taught to analyze policies central to our country’s prosperity and safety and formulate plans for addressing the modern phenomenon of terrorism with a balanced, informed perspective. This track will prove especially attractive to military officers, intelligence officials, homeland security experts, and state and local law enforcement agencies and governmental officials.

LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY
The Law and Public Policy track provides an in depth analysis of Congress which makes laws, and the judiciary which interprets them. A comprehension of these branches of government requires a thorough understanding of their constitutional foundation, which this track explores by examining the roots of our constitutional rights in England, the innovations explored during the colonial period, the writings of the Founders, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and the subsequent usurpation of legislative authority by the judiciary. This track also provides an opportunity to analyze from a Biblical worldview public policy issues that relate to the law. This certificate is designed to benefit those students who want to expand their knowledge and augment their credentials to legal and political issues.
Potential future positions related to this track are:

  • U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives
  • State Senator or State Representative 
  • Lobbyist
  • Legislative Staff (Federal & State)
  • Policy Analyst
  • Research Assistant
  • Paralegal (requires further schooling)
  • Lawyer building political base for elective office (requires further schooling)

INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES
Students may develop a tailored program addressing their individual learning interests and career needs consisting of elective hours selected in consultation with his or her advisor.  This option is available only to MA Degree students.  Students completing this learning option will not receive a formal Certificate of Graduate Studies.
