Financial Aid Opportunities:
Active Duty Military Scholarship
The School of Education offers a 25% scholarship to all active duty military personnel that are accepted into a School of Education degree-seeking program as a full-time student. This scholarship/discount may not be combined with other school-based aid with the exception of the church-matching grant.
Regent University is fully accredited and offers state-approved licensure programs, making the University eligible for the following military assistance programs.
Troops to Teachers
This is a Military program that offers support to service members who want to become certified teachers. This program provides referral assistance, placement services, and financial aid. School of Education eligible programs are the Career Switcher, Elementary Education, and Special Education programs. For more information, please visit the Troops to Teachers website at: www.proudtoserveagain.com.
Tuition Assistance
Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA) is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Congress has given each service the ability to pay up to 100% for the tuition expenses of its members. Each service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application processes and restriction. This money is usually paid directly to the institution by the individual services. For more information about these benefits by service branch, visit www.military.com/sitemap and click on Tuition Assistance under Education. Links to official sites can be found here as well.
Post-9/11 GI Bill
The Post-9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program allow eligible veterans to attend Regent University virtually free of charge.
- To be eligible, servicemembers must have served at least 90 days of active duty after September 10, 2001. Includes National Guard and Reserve called to active duty.
Provides up to 36 months of education aid, including tuition and other benefits (tiered criteria – e.g., 100% for 36 months AD; 40% for 90 days). - Provides monthly housing stipend and $1000 books/supplies stipend to veterans enrolled more than half-time. (Excludes Distance Learning students, unless at least one course is on-campus.)
- Enhances education benefits by allowing active duty service members to transfer benefits to family members.
- 15-year delimiting date (10 years for MGIB).
- Regent is participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows private institutions to enter voluntary agreements with the V.A. to share the cost of tuition and fees that exceeds the tuition benefit cap (Virginia is $313/credit hour).

Military Spousal Support
The Department of Defense is expanding the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts – MyCAA – for military spouses of active duty and activated Guard and Reserve servicemembers and will officially open its doors in mid-May 2009 although spouses may begin registering on the MyCAA website in April 2009. MyCAA provides up to $6,000 of financial assistance for eligible spouses directly to participating schools or other programs. MyCAA financial assistance will pay for expenses such as post-secondary education and training, tuition, licensing, and credentialing fees. It does not pay for computers, school application fees, graduation fees, student activity cards, child care, parking, transportation, medical services or testing fees. Learn more>>
