M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction—Gifted & Talented

- Don Finn, Ph.D.
Concentration Chair
The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) is designed to prepare educators to develop and deliver effective instructional opportunities for diverse students in various learning settings including public, private, higher education, and the workplace. Educators with leadership responsibilities (or who desire such responsibilities) such as department head, content specialist, lead teacher, or curriculum developer will benefit from this degree as well as those employed in school system or higher education administration, corporate, and non-profit settings.
The Gifted and Talented concentration is designed for teachers or administrators who already hold certification in early, middle, or secondary education, or endorsement in at least one area of special education, and provides the add-on Gifted Education Endorsement for those who are interested in adding on to their current Virginia teaching license.* The program is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the unique needs of gifted students, and how to develop appropriate curriculum, instruction, and assessment activities.
*Those from outside of Virginia should check with their state department of education for endorsement requirements.
