Online Career Switcher Program

Hear from Program Chair,
Dr. Mervyn Wighting, Ph.D.

Our online teacher preparation program, approved by the Virginia Department of Education, is now available.  The learning outcomes are the same as our award-winning face to face program conducted at the main campus. The Level I and Level II sections and sequencing of the program are also the same. The Level II seminars will be available to you in real-time using technology. To view a short introductory video, please click here.

Please note that that if you are not currently residing in Virginia, e.g. relocating from Maine, or serving afloat in a warship, you can only take Foundations in Education for Transitioning Professionals (EFND 530) until you are in Virginia because of practicum requirements. These practicum placements will be made by Regent University in the Virginia school division of your choice.

Whenever possible, your online instructor will meet with you at a regional center within the Commonwealth of Virginia early in the semester so that you can become acquainted and also meet with other Career Switchers in the program. Additionally, your online instructors will include real-time "live instruction" sessions during the courses using audio and webcam technology.

Regent University cannot guarantee any teaching positions but will assist you with the hiring process wherever you live in the Commonwealth.

Interested in an online M.Ed. degree?  All you need are 14 credit hours to add to the 18 graduate hours awarded through the Career Switcher program.  Be sure to ask for details!
