School of Education Commissioning - May 2, 2014

Congratulations! You have made an important step in your graduate studies--you have made it to graduation! We are excited that you have decided to join us for our 2014 Commissioning Ceremony and look forward to meeting your families.
You may be asking, “What is a Commissioning Service?” To commission someone is “to entrust, or to give authority” or “to appoint or assign to a task or function.” Within the context of our graduation, Commissioning is a sacred and holy time of worship, consecration, reflection, prayer and anointing. At graduation you leave from Regent with training and preparation, to go out into the world and fulfill the call God has on your life (Isaiah 61:1-3).
Please keep in mind that the Commissioning ceremony will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 (doors will open at 6:45 p.m.). All graduates are asked to arrive at the lobby of the Divinity Welcome Center for check-in at 6:45 pm. (This is the building directly next to the Chapel). Graduates are to wear their gown and bring the hood to the ceremony—but should not wear their cap. Each graduate must check-in upon arrival at the ceremony and at that time will be given further directions. (NOTE: University Commencement will be held Saturday, May 3. Due to limited seating, each graduate will have three (3) complimentary seats reserved/available for guests. You may reserve additional seating using the RSVP form. If you plan to participate in the Commissioning ceremony, please complete the online RSVP Form so we may plan accordingly. Each graduate planning to attend the service must submit this RSVP so that we may have record of your attendance as well as a count of expected guests. Please submit your RSVP for Commissioning by Friday, April 18.
