Step 1: Application and Application Fee
For your convenience you may apply online or download an application. You may pay the $50 non-refundable application fee online via credit card, by check or by money order.

Step 2: Community Life Form
In an effort to help you understand more about Regent University community life, please review the Community Life Form at the following link and check whether you agree or disagree or sign the downloadable form.

Step 3: GRE Scores
Arrange to have official GRE scores sent directly to Regent University.*

Step 4: Official Transcripts
An official transcript from each institution you have attended is required. Transcripts should be mailed directly to Regent University from each institution; however, if a transcript will be hand-delivered or mailed by the student, it should be in the original sealed envelope.

Step 5: Letters of Recommendation
Request two of the three recommendations below:
- Clergy Recommendation – This recommendation should be completed by someone who understands your spiritual goals and objectives, such as a pastor, priest, rabbi or other religious/moral leader. This recommendation may not be completed by a family member.
- Faculty Recommendation – This recommendation should be completed by a faculty member, preferably in your major field. You may have an earlier letter of recommendation that you might attach; sometimes such letters are available through your college placement office. If a faculty recommendation cannot be obtained, please refer the form to a professional colleague who has earned at least a master’s degree and explain. This form may not be completed by a family member.
- Employer/Professional Associate Recommendation – This recommendation should be completed by a professional associate or employer. This recommendation may not be completed by a family member.

Step 6: Current Résumé
Provide us with a professional résumé of employment and accomplishments, including copies of published materials.

Step 7: Writing Sample
Educational/Professional Paper
C.A.G.S. applicants are required to submit a sample of their master’s level work, a paper of at least five pages in length. Individuals that can no longer access their master’s level work may submit a professional writing sample of the same length or may compose an academic paper on an educational topic.

Write a 400-450 word essay responding to the following question.

How have you prepared personally, professionally, and spiritually to pursue your graduate degree within the School of Education?
Writing samples are evaluated using the ETS Criterion Service. Please submit your writing sample using the directions below.
- Start at the following webpage: http://criterion.ets.org
- Click “Go to Criterion Student Website” (in blue at the bottom of the page)
- Click “Register (I am a new user).”
- For the Access ID enter – “WritingSampleEssay+4-digit semester ID” (for example “WritingSampleEssaySU09,” “WritingSampleEssayFA09,” “WritingSampleEssaySP10”
- For the Password enter – “Education”
- Click “Continue”
- Create a User Name and Password
- Click “Create Registration.” You will then be redirected to your home page
- Click “School of Education Writing Sample”
- Read the instructions for submitting your essay. Please keep in mind that you have one hour to complete your writing sample.
- Click “Continue” and begin typing your writing sample.
***The font used by ETS is different than that used by word. Some functions, such as the Tab, are disabled. If a function is disabled just continue with your essay. Do not try to compensate for the disabled function or your essay will be marked with errors by ETS (i.e.: do not press the space bar 5 times for a Tab, just don’t Tab)***
Step 8: Admissions Interview
If an interview is necessary, the admissions office will contact you to schedule an appointment. The interview can be conducted on-campus or over the phone and typically takes about and hour.
