Each fall, the Graduate School of Education (SOE) reaches out to school divisions across Virginia to support new teachers as they enter their first year of teaching. Through the Adopt-A-Teacher initiative two teachers from each school division receive a generous gift certificate to a teacher supply store. Our hope is to provide much needed support to teachers who are continually asked to do more with less. One of our recipients had the following to say about the program.
"Thank you so much for the TAPS gift certificate donated by Regent University to the Kiwanis' Club breakfast for new teachers in Hampton. I was the lucky recipient, and I was so excited and grateful to receive your very generous gift! I already had a lengthy "Wish List" that was going to have to wait for a while, but Regent University's gift allowed me to shop right away and purchase many wonderful materials for my students and our classroom. We are also making very good use of the supply of pens, pencils, and hand sanitizer as well. What an awesome start to what is going to be an amazing year of growth and learning for my 137 6th graders — and their teacher! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
