School of Divinity History

Dean Emeritus, Dr. Vinson Synan wrote a history of the School of Divinity, entitled, “A Seminary to Change the World”.  A signed copy of this booklet was given as a premium at the gala. It includes memories such as the following recollections of the first day of classes for the School, September 8, 1982, by Kevin Coyle:

It was a very luxuriously appointed room. There were 23 of us in the room and we were all so excited as we heard each one’s personal testimony of how God had directed us all to enroll and get to Virginia Beach. It was noisy. We kept shouting out praises to God with each testimony. I tell you the room was “electric” with the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  We each felt as if we were walking through the gates of heaven. We were filled with great hope for our future service to God. It was a day I will never forget.
