Non-Degree Programs

Overview

For those who want to study a particular Bible or ministry topic, or who simply desire professional development without pursuing a graduate degree, the School of Divinity offers several non-degree opportunities. Non-degree programs cost $330 per credit hour and are not eligible for financial aid. Due to current federal regulations, these programs are only available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

Students may complete up to 15 semester hours under this admissions status. Coursework is available in biblical studies, church leadership and practical ministry.

In addition, the School of Divinity offers the following specialized non-degree programs:

Advanced Courses in Theological Studies (A.C.T.S.)

Non-Degree Programs

Advanced Courses in Theological Studies (A.C.T.S.)

The A.C.T.S. is a non-degree program of up to 36 credit hours. It is designed to assist applicants who possess an ATS-accredited master's degree in a theological discipline, and who wish to become academically eligible to apply to a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.), or in some cases, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program. To be eligible for the A.C.T.S., the applicant's degree must include at least 36 credit hours of academic work. The program builds upon a student's academic experience to provide the academic equivalent of a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree—a degree of at least 72 hours that is required for entrance into most D.Min. programs. Completion of the A.C.T.S. program does not automatically guarantee admission to the doctoral program.

Courses include study of the Bible, theology, Church history, Greek and Hebrew, as well as areas of ministry specialization according to the student's needs. Courses are offered in various formats, including on-campus, online, independent studies and one-week intensive modular courses. For more information, please contact Divinity Enrollment Services.

Spouse Observer Program

The commitment of the School of Divinity does not end with its students, but extends to families also. In many instances, students' spouses share in ministry responsibilities. The Spouse Observer's Program allows spouses the opportunity to attend classes as a nonparticipating observer. While credit is not granted for the experience, the perspectives and skills gained result in stronger families and ministries. Participation is contingent upon space availability and advance permission from the instructor. For more information, please contact Divinity Enrollment Services.

Pastors' Lifelong Learning Program

A great way of receiving ongoing ministry and academic training, the Pastors' Lifelong Learning Program is designed for pastoral staff members who are:

  • in full-time ministry
  • paid (not volunteer)
  • currently serving in churches
  • graduates of accredited institutions with four-year undergraduate degrees

Pastors may enroll in one course per academic year for $150 plus fees and an initial $25 application fee. Pastors may take advantage of this benefit each academic year without ever having to re-apply. They may take up to 15 credits, enrolling in one course per academic year. Only graduate-level, Divinity courses are offered under this program.

Those who are not eligible include:

  • Regent students in auxiliary pastoral roles
  • pastors who are current Regent students and receiving financial aid awards
  • pastors who are seeking to take Doctor of Ministry and Ph.D. courses (as well as some master's-level courses with prerequisites)
  • those seeking to use Continuing Education Units (CEU)

This is a non-degree program. Pastors seeking to earn a degree should apply through the normal admissions process and ask about financial aid options.

To enter the program: complete and submit the Divinity Application. A School of Divinity representative will contact you to facilitate registration for the first course. A "pastor's hold" will also be placed on your student account, meaning that you will be unable to register for another course until the next academic year. Each time you wish to register, you will need to contact Divinity Enrollment Services.

Alumni Continuing Education Program

School of Divinity alumni may enroll in one course per semester for $100 plus fees. Alumni may take up to 15 credits, enrolling in one course per term. Only master's level Divinity courses are offered.

To enter the program: complete and submit the Divinity Application. A School of Divinity representative will contact you to facilitate registration for the first course. Each time you wish to register, you will need to contact Divinity Enrollment Services.
