Upcoming Faculty and Staff Training Opportunities


Take advantage of the training opportunities available for all SPC faculty, staff and GAs. It takes so little time and the training is free! The classes are designed to have an easy pace and they are scheduled when no classes are in session. To register for any course, select the course date.

Courses are offered based on school needs, requests, and availability of resources including hardware, software, and computer and room reservations. Currently offered courses will have a date and link to the registration form.

Web Page Design

Do you want to build your own homepage? Have you ever looked at a web page and wondered how did they do that? Learn how to create a basic web page in the hottest web page authoring program without any experience in programming.

Due to limited installation of Dreamweaver on lab computers, only four spaces are available per class. Register early!

Web Design & Dreamweaver I: An Introduction to Web Design - Understanding the WWW, basic Web page design ideas, getting organized to build your own Web site and Dreamweaver's interface, creating a new site, saving your Web pages.

Web Design & Dreamweaver II - Basic color theory, working with graphics, Web page
layout, inserting tables, links and images, etc.



Web Design & Dreamweaver III - Understanding and using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in Dreamweaver

Web Design & Dreamweaver IV - adding buttons (image and Flash), working with Templates in Dreamweaver

Web Design & Dreamweaver V - working with the Dreamweaver File panel, checking for and fixing broken links, checking for browser compatibility, We will also build a Web photo album and learn how to use the behaviors panel to swap an image for another.



PowerPoint


Learn the basics to more advance features and capabilities of PowerPoint. Create a PowerPoint presentation that will "wow" any audience.

PowerPoint I - Introduction to PowerPoint.

PowerPoint II - Learn to use custom animations and much more. Basic PowerPoint skills or attendance at PowerPoint 1 highly recommended.

Adding Video to PowerPoint - Have you been searching for the right way to illustrate a point? Are you looking for something visually dramatic? Consider using a video clip. What better vehicle than a 30- to 45-second video clip with sound? Video is definitely more exciting than a still image. Now's the time to explore the world of computer video. (If you have a video and a PowerPoint you would like to work on, please bring them to the workshop.)

Adding Narration to PowerPoint - Do you use PowerPoint as a presentation tool? Adding audio narration to your PowerPoint slide show presentation can be a useful tool to capture your audience's attention. At the same time, it can often communicate more information than a slide with only a few sentences or key points. It is also great for a web-based presentations for individuals who can't attend the actual presentation and for self-running slide shows.
