Degree Requirements - Doctoral Program in Counselor Education & Supervision

In the School of Psychology & Counseling, our programs integrate scholarly and rigorous academic training within a Christian worldview to produce highly trained counselors and clinical psychologists. The curriculum is established to meet national accrediting standards and state licensure. For this Ph.D. program, our degree requirements are as follows:

  1. Attendance at three 10-day residencies
  2. Successful completion of the Library research course
  3. Satisfactory annual review by the faculty
  4. A grade of B or better in all courses
  5. Successful completion of all practica and internships
  6. Successful admission to the Doctoral Candidacy program after two years of coursework
  7. Pass both the written and oral Doctoral Comprehensive Examination
  8. Completion of an approved dissertation and successful defense of that dissertation
