Create
a Network Connection
This will enable
you to place and access your portfolio
files directly from your computer. You
are creating a network connection from
your computer to the Regent portfolio server.
- Open My Network Places
on your computer (Open "Computer" in Windows Vista).
You may find the My Network Connections or Places icon
on your desk, or a link on the Start menu, under Settings
in the Start menu, or in the Control Panel you can open
Network Connections and then My Network Places.
- Once you have selected My Network
Connections/ Places, click "Add
a Network Place" in
the left menu.
- The Add Network Place Wizard
dialogue box will open. Click "Next" on
the first screen.
- Select "Choose Another Network Location" on
the second screen.
- On the third screen for "Internet
or Network Address," enter: https://portfolio.regent.edu/ and
then your user name.
For example: https://portfolio.regent.edu/viwalker

- You will be prompted to enter
your Regent email username and password.
- Now you will be asked to give your
new network connection a name. You may name it whatever
you wish. You should choose a name that is descriptive
to this network connection because you may create others
later to other networks. Perhaps "My
Regent ePortfolio Network Connection"

- At this point you will have a network
connection to your Portfolio Web site and can begin adding
files. You will know you are connected
because at the top of the window you should see the text:
portfolio.regent.edu/username/
If you attempt to login again and
you have a flashlight moving back and forth you have
logged in already. Close the windows and go back into
My Network Connections and you should see your newly
created network connection. See below.
You
may also see a file in your network area with the file
name .htaccess. You should not attempt to open or delete
this file. Your window should look similiar to the one
below. This is where you will place your website files.

- If you close all of your windows and
go back into My Network Connections/Places, you should
see your network connection. If you select it and login,
you will have your network connection to Regent enabled. See
below:

Go on to Step
2 - Upload/Delete Portfolio files.
