Gary R. Collins, Distinguished Visiting
Professor presented a discussion at the School of Psychology
and Counseling sponsored luncheon on April 24, 2008 titled: Connecting
Across Borders: Skills for Relating Internationally.
Guest Discussants included:
Jean-Christophe Bieselaar, ThM, who is the
Pastor of Eglise Protestante Evangelique de La De-fense in
the business district of Paris and a Ph.D. student at King’s
College, University of London where his dissertation concerns
counseling with couples of different cultural/national backgrounds.
Sergio E. Mijangos, PsyD, a Pioneer in the
field of Christian Counseling in Latin America and a Professor
at the Seminario Teologico Centro Americano in Guatemala City.
The question was presented: "How can we transcend
international and cultural borders to be effective counselors,
teachers, mentors, servants and business people?" Drawing on
research data, informative case examples, and his experience
in international consulting and teaching, Dr. Collins provided
innovative guidelines for building relationships, being effective
in ministry, and learning from people in other countries.
