Army Psychologist Addresses Students at Colloquia
November 17, 2009
Col. Larry C. James (ret.), dean of the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University, addressed Regent University's School of Psychology & Counseling (SPC) students on November 13, as part of the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) 2009-2010 Colloquia Series. James presented on "What Really Happened at Abu Gharib: A Psychologist's Perspective," highlighting issues that students should be aware of if pursuing a career as a psychologist in a correctional institution.
To illustrate these issues, James drew on many of his experiences from several years ago when he served as the chief psychologist for the Joint Intelligence Group in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (2003) and as the director of the Behavioral Science Unit at the Joint Interrogation and Debriefing Center in Abu Ghraib, Iraq (2004).
