Continuing Education FAQs

What’s an online continuing education course?

The School of Psychology & Counseling’s Continuing Education Initiative brings cutting edge discussions and lectures by preeminent mental health educator and clinicians on topics related to cultural diversity, professionalism and ethics, clinical practice, spiritual integration, and many more. Continuing education credit is provided to you upon completion of the course. CE hours vary based on the length and content of the course.

How long do I have to take the course?

Upon registration, you have 30 days to complete the course. SPC continuing education courses were designed to comfortably fit within this timeframe. Given that individuals have busy schedules and may not be able to complete the course in one sitting, you can use your username and password to return to course at any time within the 30 day period.

How much do your courses cost?

The cost for SPC continuing education courses is very competitive and cost-effective. Fees for CE courses vary based on length and content of the course, which will also determine the number of credit hours a participant will earn.

How do I pay for the online course?

The payment of CE courses is simple and takes just a few moments. Once you have completed the CE Registration Form, and created a username and password, you will be directed to the CE Payment Page. These locations are secure and the information you provide is safe. You will asked to provide a credit card number and expiration date. Once the payment has been approved you will be directed to the course you selected.

Do your continuing education courses count towards fulfilling my license requirements?

SPC continuing education courses are approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors for licensure renewal (Provider #4446). Yes! The SPC Continuing Education courses fulfill the continuing education requirements for counselors (LPC – 18 VAC 115-20-106), substance abuse treatment providers (LSATP – 18 VAC 115-60-116), marriage and family therapists (LMFT – 18 VAC 115-50-96), and psychologists (LCP – 18 VAC125-20-122).
