Mark YarhouseMark Yarhouse

Dr. Mark Yarhouse is the Rosemarie Scotti Hughes Endowed Chair of Christian Thought in Mental Health Practice and Professor of Psychology at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is a core faculty member in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, teaching Applied Clinical Integration, Family Therapy and Human Sexuality. He is also the director of the Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity at Regent (www.sexualidentityinstitute.org), a research team focused on studying issues of sexual identity. Dr. Yarhouse is co-author of several books, including Ex-Gays? A Longitudinal Study of Religiously Mediated Change in Sexual Orientation and a Christian perspective on psychopathology titled Modern Psychopathologies: A Comprehensive Christian Appraisal. Dr. Yarhouse also keeps a small private practice in the Hampton Roads area, providing individual, couples, and family therapy. He specializes in marriage and family therapy, as well as issues related to sexual and gender identity.


Jill KaysJill Kays

Jill Kays is a student in Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at Regent University. She is in her third year in the program. Her interests include marriage and family therapy, sexual and gender identity, and personality. She is a research and teaching assistant for Dr. Mark Yarhouse, and has been involved with the Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity for 2 ½ years. She is also a member of the Hope Focused Marriage Research Project with Dr. Jennifer Ripley of Regent University, serving as a therapist for couples involved in the program. Jill is currently in her second year practicum rotation at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, where she does psychological testing and individual therapy.
