Jennifer RipleyJennifer Ripley, Ph.D.
Professor of Psychology
Regent University

Dr. Ripley is professor of psychology at Regent University and director of the Marriage and Ministry Assessment, Training and Empowerment  (MMATE) Center.  She is one of the original authors on research in the Hope Focused approach to couples counseling and has developed the Hope approach for clinical situations.  She directs a clinical trial study of the Hope approach to couples counseling at Regent University where the approach is tested for couples with clinical levels of marital problems.  Her training was under Everett L. Worthington, Jr., at Virginia Commonwealth University when he was developing the Hope approach.  They continue to collaborate in research and clinical development of the approach.

Dr. Ripley  is involved in the training of psychologists who specialize in couples therapy.  The Hope project which she directs involves in-depth training in the hope approach for Regent doctoral students with 4 years of training from observer/research assistant roles to clinician to peer supervisor roles.  She also teaches the graduate level course in marital therapy for both psychology and counseling students.  In addition, she supervises residents in psychology or counseling in her practice in the community.

The Hope video lectures are primarily Dr. Worthington presenting his theory and research in the Hope approach.  The course was created out of the training he provided to Regent students with the help of the Center for Teaching and Learning.
