Doctoral Program in Counselor Education & Supervision
Counselor Education and Supervision
This page shows what courses a student must take to earn his or her Doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision. To see a breakdown of when each course will be taken, click here.
As we expect a large proportion of our students in the Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision program to be adult learners, many of whom may be in private practice or working full-time in the mental health field, we are aware of the need and/or desire of students to continue working, either part-time or full-time. The program is a full-time doctoral program that will be rigorous and demanding. The number of courses has been limited, at least during the first two years of the program, to two each term for a total of six hours. You should be aware that research shows that the amount of time a student spends preparing for online coursework is greater than for an in-class format. Students can expect a minimum of 20-25 hours per week of computer and research-related work. You are encouraged to seek a balance between work, family and personal responsibilities and your commitment to the program. Keep in mind the demanding and high-level preparation required to matriculate as a doctoral student.
