Aaron D. Anderson

Aaron’s work history is pretty standard.  He’s a former US Army explosive ordinance specialist with an MFA in Acting, a PhD in Culture, and a triple appointment in a Department of Theatre, a Department of Internal Medicine, and a School of Business. Like most people, he has started three companies that employ 75 people, and lectures and consults around the world for governmental agencies, leadership institutes and Fortune 500 companies. He is internationally certified as a fight director and stage combat teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat, and Dueling Arts International.  In addition to his choreographic work on film and stage he has taught at universities and theaters across the United States and Europe and iscurrently Vice Chair of the Department of Theatre at Virginia Commonwealth University (go Rams!).

Angela is a Certified Teacher of Stage Combat with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD), and works across the country as a director, stage combat instructor, and fight director. Favorite directing credits include Henry IV, Part 1, The Mousetrap, Talking Heads, The Odd Couple, Over The TavernSome Enchanted Evening, and The Bat.  As a stage combat instructor, she has taught at such institutions as the University of Maine, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Roosevelt University.  Fight Direction and choreography credits include numerous classical and contemporary plays at such theatres as the Theatre at Monmouth, Penobscot Theatre Company, Bowdoin College, Bates College, Purdue University, and Greasy Joan and Co.

Paul is an Instructor with the IDCA Irelands National Stage Combat Society and a qualified Stunt Coordinator with Stunt Register Ireland. He was fight coordinator on multiple episodes on Season 1 and 2 of Fox TV's Sleepy Hollow. Other film and television work includes Hammer of the Gods, Banshee and The Tudors. Paul was Travis Fimmel's stunt double for 3 Seasons of History Channels Vikings. Theatre fight choreography includes the world premieres of Conor MacPherson's The Night Alive at the Donmar Theatre London and Sam Shepard’s Ages of the Moon at the National Theatre Of Ireland

Michael G. Chin is a professional actor (AEA, AFTRA, SAG) and is a sanctioned Master instructor and choreographer with the Society of American Fight Directors. He is a student of Northern Style, Shaolin Long Fist Kung Fu. Chin serves as fight director in residence for both The White Horse and Pan Asian Rep in NYC. He has taught/choreographed/consulted in the NYC area on Broadway, NYU, The Public and Classical Theatre of Harlem. Nationally he has worked at the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre, Brown University, and Yale School of Drama, among others. Chin currently teaches at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, Juilliard, and teaches privately for Fights4, all in New York City.

Richard Clabaugh has been a cinematographer and director on numerous features and worked with such talents as Russell Crowe, Viggo Mortensen, Christopher Walken, Ben Affleck, and Peter O'Toole. He was the director of the feature films, Python, Little Chicago and Eyeborgs. He is an instructor at the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking and president of Crimson Wolf Pictures, a North Carolina based feature film production company.

Kevin Inouye (Assistant Coordinator; SAFD Certified Teacher and Theatrical Firearms Instructor and Rocky Mountain Regional Rep) is Assistant Professor of Acting, Movement, & Stage Combat at the University of Wyoming. A SAG-AFTRA stuntman, award-winning fight choreographer, and sole proprietor of Fight Designer, LLC, Kevin is also known through his recent publication of The Theatrical Firearms Handbook.

Michael Kirkland, MFA, Ph.D., an SAFDCertified Teacher, serves as head of the MFA Acting program at Regent University where he teaches acting, movement, and stage combat. He has guest taught at RADA and Birmingham School of Acting in England and has staged fights for Houston Grand Opera, Houston Shakespeare Festival, New Stage Theatre, Virginia Musical Theatre and professional and educational venues around the U.S. He is author of Stage Combat: An Annotated Bibliography (Praeger, 2006).

Jenny Male is thrilled to be teaching again at the Virginia Beach Bash! Favorite fight directing credits include The Fantasticks, A Lie of the Mind, Yellowman, The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, A Streetcar Named Desire, Tecumseh!, Peter Pan, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Jenny coordinates the Theatre Program at Howard Community College and serves as the Artistic Director of the epic outdoor drama Tecumseh! She is the director/choreographer of numerous musicals for the Red Branch Theatre Company and the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. Favorite directing credits include Into the Woods, Avenue Q, Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, The Secret Garden, Urinetown, Twelfth Night, Tecumseh!, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and A Year With Frog and Toad. She is looking forward to directing Spring Awakening this spring and Tecumseh! this summer.

Darrell Rushton is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Frostburg State University.  He has been a Certified Teacher since 2007, a Theatrical Firearms Safety Instructor since 2010, and a SAFD member since his first workshop; the 2000 NSCW.  He has taught stage combat regionally and across the country at the Rumble in the Rockies, Seattle Sockeye, Winter Wonderland Workshop and the NSCW.  He has been Fight Director for numerous productions at Frostburg State, Ball State University (Assistant Professor of Movement and Acting), the Cumberland Theatre, and National Tours with Windwood Theatricals.  Union Member of AEA, AFTRA and SAG, with acting credits in New York, Washington, DC, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Florida and Maryland.

Wing Chun Kung Fu Certified Instructor

 

Dave White is a certified Instructor in Wing Chun Kung Fu and has been teaching for over 20 years. He is also Baton, Conceal Carry, CQB, and Knife Defense certified. He is a 26 year Law Enforcement Veteran and served as a "Point-Man" on a Hostage Rescue Team. He has taught and created programs for many law enforcement and military groups. He has worked as a tactical consultant for the Discovery Channel's Spy Tech, Dominion Pictures, and The FBI files. He has worked on many student films at Regent University. He will be continuing his training in acting at the actor's place in Va Beach, VA. Along with acting he has recently written, acted, and directed a small film titled "Wiseman" which will showcase local actors and his non-classical version of Wing Chun in several fight scenes. He is working towards starting a business that involves self defense, fitness, and a program to teach actors tactics and fighting skills for film.
