The Philosophy of Wired

If there is one publication the captures the current philosophy of the new media cyber-culture, it would have to be Wired [27]. The materialistic hedonism of Wired stands in stark contrast to the Gelassenheit of the Amish culture and the "technological modesty" proposed by Postman. Winner (1995) referred to the "cyberlibertarianism" of Wired's "hyperventilated prose." With monthly columns like "Fetish" (subtitled "Technolust") and "Follow the Money", the slant is definitely towards cyber-consumerism.
