Introducing
John Parker:
Growing up on a farm in
Montague, Michigan, Mr. Parker has dedicated his entire adult
life to some area of communication. He is currently the director
of technical operations for our school.
“In this position, I’m
responsible for the electronics, cameras, and sound in the
television studio, theater, and journalism screen rooms,” he
said.
Mr. Parker began his
communication career after high school when he enlisted in the
Navy. “I was a photographer,” he said. “I used to shoot films
for the Navy.”
After retirement from the
service, he took a position as the manager of the engineering
department in the television studio at CBN in October 1981. When
he was near retirement John's communication career took an
interesting turn when several prophetic words were spoken over
him that change was coming. Change did indeed come when he was
offered his current position in March 2002.
Although Mr. Parker enjoys the
technical aspects of his job, his heart is for the students. “I
really enjoy building relationships with students,” he said. Now
in his 60’s, he has no plans for retirement anytime soon. “I
don’t have a clear word from the Lord,” he said. “Besides that,
I don’t really think of it as work.” --- Debra L. Muylaert
