Introducing Joe McDonald:
Originally from Whittier, California, Cinema-Television student Joe McDonald says he always had a desire to obtain a master’s degree while focusing on his Christian beliefs.

Although Joe completed his undergraduate degree at California State Fullerton in communication, with an emphasis in journalism, he discovered that his passion was somewhere else. When he discovered Regent could fulfill this purpose, he moved from the West to East coast to learn more about directing and filmmaking.

As a second-year directing student, Joe says he has participated in 30 student or Regent-sponsored films. The most recent film he has worked on, “RPS” (or Rock Paper Scissors) will debut on May 3 at the Naro Theatre in Norfolk, VA. Other notable films are “Syn” and “Heart of a Saturday Night.” Joe will also fill the role of cinematographer for the upcoming Regent summer film.

After graduation Joe plans to pursue a career as a director. Inspired by actor/director Robert Redford, Joe hopes to create meaningful documentaries or films. - Andrea Hicks
