Dr. Marc Newman is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Regent University specializing in rhetorical theory and criticism, with an emphasis popular film, culture, bioethics and social movements. He is the president of movieministry.com, a company that equips pastors and teachers with sermon illustrations from popular film and helps the Church use movies to connect with people.
Dr. Newman has taught in colleges for more than 25 years. He writes for both academic publications and the popular press, with his columns appearing on nationally recognized websites such as christianpost.com and catholicexchange.com. He has also been cited in Time magazine and appeared on The O' Reilly Factor. At Regent, he teaches historical and critical research methods, advanced communication theory, rhetoric of digital media, rhetoric of bioethics, media and the church, and a variety of seminars on the rhetoric of popular film.
Academic Philosophy
The purpose of a Christian education is to train the mind to the best of its ability, craft research that reveals something important about the world, serve the Church by making knowledge accessible and impact the world by making God known.
