Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission to the School of Communication & the Arts. Application check lists are included, but feel free to contact our office with any questions or concerns. International applicants, please see the *note below.
Master of Arts in Communication
Applicants to the M.A. program must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Completed admissions application
- $50 non-refundable fee to activate application
- Signed Regent University Community Life Form
- Personal goals statement
- A writing sample reflecting research skills
- Completed computer literacy survey
- Clergy recommendation
- Faculty recommendation
- General recommendation
- Current resume
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Official test results (within the last 5 years) score from the GRE or MAT sent directly to CEM
- Interview with Admissions
Master of Arts in Journalism
Applicants to the M.A. program must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

- Two to five samples of journalistic writing when available
- Personal goals statement
- A writing sample reflecting research skills

Master of Fine Arts
Applicants to the MFA program must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

- Audition for MFA Acting and Acting/Directing applicants
- Demo reel of completed works on DVD for Cinema-Television Directing or Producing applicants
- A completed screenplay, teleplay or stage play for Script & Screenwriting applicants
- Interview with faculty

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Applicants to the Ph.D. program must hold a Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution.

- Personal goals statement
- A writing sample reflecting research skills
- A writing sample reflecting the ability to integrate a Christian worldview with the field of communication and the arts
- Completed computer literacy survey
- Clergy recommendation
- Faculty recommendation
- Faculty recommendation (preferably from faculty in your masters study program)
- Current resume or vitae outlining your academic experience
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Official test results (within the last 5 years) score from the GRE or MAT sent directly to CEM
- Interview with faculty
Non-Degree/Professional Development
Applicants who wish to take classes for professional development as a non-degree seeking student must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid, are limited to a maximum of 18 credits, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

- A transcript showing attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree for coursework at the master’s level, or at least a master’s degree for coursework at the Ph.D. level
- Recommendation (Clergy, faculty or employer)
- Interview with Admissions
*Note to International Students:
The International Admission process applies to you if you are a non-immigrant to the United States and you plan to study in the U.S., or if you are already in the U.S. on an employment-based or student visa. (A non-immigrant is anyone who is NOT a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.)
