Master of Fine Arts Degree in Cinema-Television*
SCA Alumni, Sarah Purnell
Sarah Purnell graduated in 2010 with her MFA in Cinema-Television with a major in producing. A native of the U.K., her five-year journey coming to Regent began in 2002 when she searched for faith-based learning institutions in her own country. "I soon realized how rare Regent's ethos is," Purnell recalls, "I was first attracted to their unique mission of fusing faith with artistry." She left the U.K. to enroll at Regent as an on-campus student. Any fears of being an international student were quickly dispelled during her first semester.
"In a safe environment, I was encouraged to explore and expand my artistry," Purnell says. "I was not a number or a face in a crowd. I was known, I was seen, I was challenged and I was believed in. Not only did I learn professional level producing skills, the program also allowed me to include theatre, directing and strategic communication classes. Regent enabled me to explore aspects of producing that I had previously been unexposed to. I was given opportunities to meet with a number of top industry professionals, including Amazing Grace producer Ken Wales, comedian Carol Burnett and talent agent mogul Sam Haskell."
Upon graduating, Purnell accepted a position at the Christian Broadcasting Network as a producer for The 700 Club.
