Thank you for your interest in Regent University’s School of Communication & the Arts. On behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome the opportunity to work with you throughout the entire admissions process. This document contains a list of web sites to assist you in your information search, as well as relevant information regarding the application process.
Let me begin by answering some commonly asked questions by international students in the past:
Q. What is the application deadline date for international applicants?
A. An application should be submitted at least four months prior to the date of intended enrollment.
Q. What are the essay questions for international applicants?
A. As a part of the application process, you are required to complete our personal goal statements (listed on the paper and online applications) and to submit a writing sample that reflects research skills.
Q. How many letters of recommendation are required for international applicants?
One clergy recommendation and two faculty recommendations are required.
Q. What is the minimum TOEFL score for international applicants?
A. The minimum TOEFL score for the computer-based test is 233 and the minimum score for the paper-based test is 577. We require the TOEFL if English is not your first language in your home country.
Q. Is an entrance exam required?
A. We generally require a GRE score or a MAT score. In some cases, with a strong academic and employment background, we may be able to waive the GRE/MAT score.
Q. How much does it cost for one year?
A. Tuition alone for the School of Communication will cost close to $15,000 US for one year of a normally two year degree program. You will also need to consider expenses for books, fees, insurance, housing, and transportation. International students need to demonstrate the ability to raise these funds before acceptance. We do not have specific scholarships for International Students, and financial aid is available but limited. More information on costs/fees may be found here.
Q. How much education or what degrees are required?
A. To be considered for admission to the master's programs, an applicant must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution or the equivalent degree from a foreign institution (16 years of formal education). Ph.D. Applicants must have completed a master's degree.
Q. Is there a required residency for distance education students?
A. The M.A. in Communication, Media, Faith and Culture degree program requires a residency each semester. The Ph.D. in Communication degree program requires a residency the summer before the program begins and each additional summer.
